Iranian short ‘The Wooden Doll’ to go to Salerno Int'l Film Festival

Iranian short film ‘The Wooden Doll’ is to compete at the 2020 Salerno Int’l Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian short film ‘The Wooden Doll’ has been selected to compete at the 74th edition of the Salerno International Film Festival in Italy.

Written and directed by Mohammad-Reza Misaqi, the 6-minute short film depicts a lonely Afghan boy who lost his family in the war and has a hard time forgetting his bitter memories of the Afghanistan conflict. The gloomy atmosphere of the film reflects the boy’s feelings toward war.

The short has competed in several international events before, including Jharkhand International Film Festival in India, Realtime Film Festival in Africa, and BUEIFF Channel Film Festival in Argentina.

The only actor in the short film is Nabi Mohammadi.

The film crew is made of cameraman Keyvan Shabani, photographer Mehrdad Misaqi, sound recordist Mobin Salempour, director advisor Mohammad Safa and editor/ vocalist Mohammad Yousefi.

Misaqi is a young filmmaker who has directed several short films such as ‘This Is not a Game’ and ‘Silence’.

Born in 1945, the Salerno festival aims to promote culture through cinema.

Feature films, short films, cartoons, and fiction are presented to compete at the festival.

The 2020 edition of the event is slated for November 30-December 5.
